Friends of Low Port Primary School SCIO
Information on our PTA, also called FLPPS
Who are we?
Friends of Low Port SCIO (aka FLPPS) is the former PTA now Parent Council Group. Registered with the Charity Commission as SC047942.
We are a group of parents and teachers of Low Port Primary School.
Our aim is to
- promote close cooperation between parents and teachers
- create opportunities for social interaction within the school community
- raise funds to support the school both educationally and socially.
What do we do?
We meet bi-monthly at the school where all parents and carers are welcome. We also do a lot of work online, which is a great way for those who can't attend meetings to get involved.
Throughout the school year we hold or assist at various social and fundraising events for the school community such as school discos, spring fair, sparkle nights, refreshments at sports day and Enterprise night, P1 parent/carer breakfast, quiz nights and family bingo.
The money raised at events is used to support the school to purchase resources that benefit the pupils. In the past, we have helped the school to buy interactive panels, playground equipment, Fischy Music subscriptions, Numicon resources, Spanish resources, bereavement resources, iPads, Parent/carer booking system and library books. We have also provided support for families who required assistance for school camps.
Get involved!
Anyone in the parent/carer body can join FLPPS. We have various levels of commitment available ranging from Trustees who attend meetings and vote on how the money raised is spent to a long list of people willing to help at events or with occasional one off tasks.
Please follow our Facebook page, Friends of Low Port Primary School (opens new window), and join our groups, Low Port PS Community Chatter (opens new window) and Low Port second-hand uniform (opens new window) (uniform items can also be donated to the Debra shop beside Tesco).
There are also Facebook groups set up by parents/carers for most of the school year groups which have proved very useful!
